A massive fire broke out at a wax manufacturing factory in the Santej industrial area of Kalol Taluka in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar district on Friday evening, triggering panic across the locality and prompting a large-scale emergency response.
The blaze reportedly erupted at a unit identified as Faith Company, located within the Santej industrial estate. Officials said the fire spread rapidly due to the presence of large quantities of wax and other combustible industrial materials stored inside the premises. Thick plumes of black smoke engulfed the sky and were visible from several kilometres away, causing alarm among nearby residents and workers in surrounding industrial units.
As the situation escalated, the fire department declared a “major call,” following which firefighting teams from Ahmedabad and nearby municipalities were rushed to the scene. Multiple fire tenders were deployed as authorities launched extensive efforts to contain the blaze, which continued late into the evening.
According to officials, the factory was involved in the manufacturing of wax, plastic, and related industrial products. The highly inflammable nature of the stored materials intensified the fire within minutes, allowing it to spread aggressively through the facility. Authorities confirmed that nearby factories within the industrial estate were also impacted due to the intensity of the flames. Several surrounding units were evacuated as a precautionary measure to avoid casualties and further escalation.
Three individuals sustained injuries during the initial phase of the incident and were shifted to Sola Civil Hospital for treatment. Officials said their condition remains stable. Officials from the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services stated that additional assistance was sought after the scale of the fire increased significantly. The exact cause of the blaze is yet to be determined and remains under investigation.
Personnel from Santej Police and local administrative departments also reached the site and cordoned off the area to facilitate rescue operations and support firefighting efforts.
